About:: Caleb Adam Haye
Caleb Adam Haye has been developing web applications since 1997. He now works full time as a Senior Engineer for Metaliq, an agency in San Francisco. Recently, Caleb became the founder of Fire, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in rich internet application (RIA) development. Caleb also teaches ActionScript at the Academy of Art University’s Digital Arts + Communications MFA program.
As a former Yahoo! employee, he was the initial member of the Yahoo! Media Innovation Group, pushing the boundaries of rich Internet and client media software on a variety of content delivery platforms. While at Yahoo! he introduced an ActionScript platform that was adopted by several major divisions of the company. He is a contributing author to the Yahoo! Flash® Developer Center and authored the first ActionScript APIs for the web services available on the Yahoo! Developer Network.
He has done work for many highly visible clientèle, including Yahoo! Research Berkeley, Xerox Palo Alto Research Center, LVMH group (Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton), EVB, and Morla Design (permanent member of MOMA NY/SF). He has also worked on several music industry related sites, including the official home pages for Violator Records, and top 10 Billboard artists Alicia Keys, Fabolous, and Cassidy, to name a few.
Caleb’s recent speaking engagements include WebDU 2007 (webdu.com.au - Sydney, Australia) where Caleb explained and demonstrated exactly how simple it is to integrate Yahoo!’s robust, dynamic, data services into any Flash application, Flash in the can 2006 (FITC, www.fitc.ca) where he spoke on the latest and greatest Flash developments abreast at Yahoo!. Caleb was also a presenter at FlashForward Austin 2006 (www.flashforwardconference.com), covering the topic of migrating from ActionScript 2 towards ActionScript 3 and using his YahooAPI abstraction layer as a basis for the discussion. Caleb’s “My Yahoo!” for Windows Media Center (Caleb’s first project as a Yahoo! employee, a real-world, Flash-based TV/Internet Video viewing experience) was also showcased at the “Microsoft Home” exhibit at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas 2005. Caleb also was a contributor on the winning hack at Yahoo!’s first public hackday (www.hackday.org).
Caleb is an active member in rich media academic circles. He is an active board member for Full Sail University, advising on 2 Bachelor of Science degree programs (Web Design, and Digital Arts and Design). Caleb is also a teacher, instructing a group directed study in the Academy of Art San Francisco’s School of Digital Arts + Communications MFA program
In his spare time Caleb is a traveler, a farmer, an entrepreneur, and when time permits, a blogger (caleb.org). Most importantly, Caleb is the proud father of his beloved daughter, Kalea Amina Haye.
